The NZ Transport Agency advises motorists that there will be several changes to driving conditions on the Southern Motorway (SH1) between the Newmarket Viaduct and the Greenlane Interchange.
From Monday 5 October, temporary barriers and new lane markings will be in place on the southbound lanes from the Newmarket Viaduct to Greenlane. For driver safety, a 70km/h speed limit will also apply.
The southbound lanes between the Newmarket Viaduct and the Greenlane southbound off-ramp will be closed for three nights between 11pm and 5am from Sunday 4 to Tuesday 6 October, to put the changes in place.
Please follow the signposted detours in place. In the event of bad weather, the work will take place on the next fine night.
The lane changes will allow work to start on a fourth southbound lane to Greenlane, to link with the Newmarket Connection: Viaduct Replacement project.
The NZTA advises motorists to slow down and drive carefully. The NZTA thanks motorists for their cooperation during this essential work to help improve traffic flows and safety.
