Motueka residents will spot night-time activity and Stop/Go traffic management around High St intersections from the end of this weekend.
As well as Monday to Friday daytime work, three weeks of work will be underway from 6 pm to 4 am the next day, excluding Friday and Saturday nights, says Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency.
The work is part of a major safety upgrade of SH60/High St started this week. Traffic lights and pedestrian lights at intersections in High St are being installed to help people get across the road safely and access side streets easily.
Sunday, 8 August – Thursday, 12 August: 6pm – 4am the next morning
Crews will be working at the Pah/Greenwood/High Street intersection.
Sunday, 15 August – Thursday, 19 August and Sunday, 22 August – Thursday, 26 August: 6pm – 4am the next morning
Crews will be working at the Tudor/High Street intersection and by the existing zebra/pedestrian crossing on High Street, north of Wallace Street.
What you will notice
“This work is being done at nights, outside Friday and Saturday nights, to minimise disruption for most daytime road users and to ensure safety for road users, residents and businesses on High Street,” says Andrew James, System Manager Top of the South for Waka Kotahi.
“The aim is to get the project completed ahead of the busy summer season.”
“We know there will be some inconvenience and we appreciate people’s patience making High St a safer place for everyone,” he says.
