From this Sunday night, 12 March, NZ Transport Agency contractors will be starting resealing works on State Highway 6 between Shotover Country and the new Five Mile roundabout in Frankton.
Normally work crews will be on site 6 am to 8 pm, Monday to Friday, with sealing between 9 am and 4 pm.
“While two-way traffic flow will continue for most of the time, motorists will need to take care and slow down to the temporary speed limits,” says John Jarvis, Transport Agency Senior Network Manager. “Some extra travel time should be factored in while this work is underway, over the next ten days to a fortnight.”
The work is expected to take up to a week-and-a-half and subject to weather should be completed by Wednesday 22 March.
“Due to cooler evening and early morning temperatures only some parts of the works can be done at night time and the bulk of the work will be done between 9am and 4pm each day,” says Mr Jarvis.
For those travelling between Queenstown and Arrow Junction, there is an alternative route on Malaghans Road via Arrowtown, which avoids these works.
Two other sites to expect short delays –Bungy Bridge and Lake Hayes Outlet area
At the same time, other resealing works on State Highway 6 are also programmed between Monday and Wednesday, 13 - 15 March, at separate sites near AJ Hackett Bungy Bridge, east of the Crown Range turnoff, and at the Lake Hayes outlet area. Delays of up to 10 minutes can be expected at these sites.
Thanks to all Queenstown area drivers for building in some extra time over the next fortnight.
