The finish line is in sight for major deck repair work on the Kawarau Falls Bridge on SH6 between Frankton and Kelvin Heights.
The repairs costing $150,000 started in mid-March and are part of the Transport Agency’s ongoing maintenance programme for the bridge.
Transport Agency Senior Network Manager Otago John Jarvis says poor weather conditions over the past couple of weeks have prevented sealing of the new decking.
“It is hoped weather permitting, to commence this job from Sunday night. That will mean limited closures over a two further two nights for bridge users, but these closures shouldn’t be longer than one hour.”
Mr Jarvis says the partial closures were unavoidable because the bridge is single lane.
