The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) advises that a 50 metre long section of State Highway 39, seven kilometres south of Whatawhata, will be down to one lane during the day for a week from Friday (10 May), while repairs to a culvert are carried out.
Stop/go signs will be in operation between 7.00 am and 5.00 pm and there will be a 30 km/h speed restriction in place. Two lane access and a 50 km/h speed restriction will operate overnight.
NZTA Highway Network Operations Manager, Karen Boyt, says although delays during the day are likely to be less than five minutes, motorists may wish to factor the extra time into their travel through this section of highway while the works are underway.
“We appreciate people’s patience around this. We would also like to encourage people to remember to be cautious when travelling through the works area, to ensure the safety of themselves, other road users and our road crews. Please take note of the traffic controls in place and the respective speed restrictions for day and night while the works are completed.”
