State Highway 39 between Ngaruawahia and Pirongia is CLOSED following a serious crash.
The NZ Transport Agency says the driver of a car has hit a power pole and there are power lines over the road.
Contractors are at the scene working to replace the power lines and the road is expected to reopen by 2pm today.
A detour via Reid Road, Old School Road and Finlayson Road is in place and traffic is light.
