Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises retaining wall works on State Highway 35 at Whitianga Bay will continue throughout the holiday period.
The project site is subject to complex ground conditions, which have resulted in delays during construction. The Transport Agency and its contractors are working hard to have the works completed and the road back to regular levels of service by mid-January 2020.
The temporary traffic management, 30km/h speed limit and access restrictions for overdimension vehicles will remain in place for the entirety of the work.
All over width and over length traffic must detour via State Highway 2 (Ōpōtiki) and SH35 (Gisborne).
