Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises State Highway 35 is closed between Okitu and Potaka, after wild weather overnight resulted in slips and flooding along the route.
There is a detour in place using State Highway 2 and people are asked to allow extra time for their journeys.
Contractors are out surveying the damage and we expect to provide further updates during the day.
