State Highway 3 is down to a single lane controlled by traffic lights at Uruti, near the intersection with Uruti Road, following a slip yesterday.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency expects to provide another update mid-week, once geotechnical investigations are complete and a course of action has been identified.
Motorists are asked to plan ahead, allow extra time for their journeys in this area and avoid unnecessary travel.
