UPDATE: SH3 reopened to one lane at Uruti
10 December 2020
The road has now reopened to one lane under Stop/Go traffic management with a 30km/h temporary speed limit in place. The road is likely to remain at one lane for the next week. Motorists are advised to plan ahead, be patient and allow additional time for their journeys. Waka Kotahi asks that people drive with care through the site to ensure their safety and that of other road users and the road workers working hard to keep the road open for traffic.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises State Highway 3 will remain closed overnight at Uruti, near the intersection with Uruti Road, due to a slip.
Motorists should avoid the area and delay their travel, where possible.
There is a significant detour via Whanganui and State Highway 4. Light vehicles or those familiar with the road can also use State Highway 43.
Waka Kotahi expects to provide a further update after 10am tomorrow (Thursday 10 December), following geotechnical assessments of the site.
Waka Kotahi thanks motorists for their patience.
Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey this summer. Keep up to date with:
