Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises State Highway 3 in Te Awamutu will be closed overnight between Racecourse Road and Benson Road this Thursday 12 August, from 9pm to 5am, to allow for a pedestrian footbridge to be installed over the Mangapiko Stream.
Detours will be in place and motorists are asked to take extra care by following any temporary speed limits, signs and instructions from the traffic management team.
The 32-metre footbridge will be brought in as one piece and lowered into place by crane.
In the event of bad weather, the closure will instead take place overnight on Thursday 19 August.
