Motorists are advised to plan ahead for 7 nights of southbound lane closures on the State Highway 29 Takitimu Drive Toll Road.

On Wednesday 22 May and Thursday 23 May, the southbound lane (from Tauranga to Tauriko) on the toll road will be closed to all traffic overnight from 8:30pm to 5am.

There will be no work on Friday and Saturday nights and the road will be fully open.

Then, from Sunday 26 May through to and including the night of Thursday 30 May, the southbound lane will be closed again overnight, 8.30pm until 5am.

Motorists should expect uneven surfaces with a temporary speed limit of 30km/h in place during the day.

The work is to undertake road rebuilding between the toll gantry and the SH29/29A/36 roundabout. While this work is taking place there will be a detour via SH2 and Moffat Road/Cambridge Road (see detour map attached). This detour will add about 10 minutes to your journey.

This work is one of the last major pieces of rebuilding work for the Bay of Plenty’s 2023/24 maintenance season. The new maintenance season starts in October.

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi thanks people for their patience while this important maintenance work is carried out.
