Following on from the resealing of Coromandel state highways that took place in October 2021, Waka Kotahi advises that the remainder of the programme commences Monday 28 February.
Approximately 10km of new seal will be laid across 41 different sections of road, between Whitianga and Waihī on the eastern side of the Coromandel Peninsula. The majority of these sites are on State Highway 25, with one site at the Hikuai end of State Highway 25A.
Although the work is weather dependent, it is expected that all sites will be completed within a fortnight.
Stop/go traffic management with a temporary speed limit of 30km/h will be in place at each worksite, to protect road users, their vehicles and our road workers. Once the new chipseal has been laid, a temporary speed limit of 50km/h will apply until the new surface has settled and the lines have been repainted.
Temporary message boards will alert drivers of upcoming worksites. Multiple sites will be completed each day, and road users are advised to expect delays, especially on SH25.
