The NZ Transport advises motorists that SH2 Waioeka Gorge to Otoko (between Gisborne and Opotiki) is closed due to snow and icy conditions.
UPDATE: 11 July 2015.
SH2 Waioeka Gorge is now OPEN.
Extra care is needed when travelling on this route.
The closure is on the eastern side of the gorge near Matawai.
Contractors are monitoring the road however it is not expected to reopen till tomorrow morning at the earliest.
