The NZ Transport Agency is advising that SH2 through the Waimana Gorge remains closed.
Bay of Plenty System Manager Rob Campbell says while the wet weather has had some impact on work this week our contractors have made good progress.
“We are expecting to continue drilling next week and should have a better idea of when we will be able to re-open the road by the end of the week,” says Mr Campbell.
We ask all motorists to use the alternative route and allow extra time for their journeys.
The detour is via Whakatane, Ōhope and Wainui and is clearly sign posted.
