The NZ Transport Agency advises motorists that State Highway 2 is once again flowing freely following severe congestion this morning.
NZTA Wellington Operations Manager Mark Owen says that apart from some minor delays past the crash site, the backlog of traffic has cleared and the highway has largely returned to normal
This follows two crashes south of Horokiwi earlier this morning which reduced State Highway 2 to one lane in each direction.
Mr Owen says the NZTA are grateful to motorists for their patience and understanding throughout the morning.
"We appreciate these delays have been an almighty headache and we thank the public for hanging in there while emergency services attended to the crash and the resulting spill."
