SH1 Ōhinewai northbound site investigation

|

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises northbound road users will see traffic management on State Highway 1 between Rangiriri and Ōhinewai interchanges from Monday 11 to Thursday 14 October.

Waka Kotahi is looking to make this section of SH1 safer by installing roadside barriers to prevent people from running off the road. Several roadside lights will also be repositioned to provide room for the new barriers to be installed. Before the barriers can be installed, our contractors will need to locate underground services and confirm soil strength.

Weather permitting, site investigations will take place over four days and semi-static traffic management will be in place. This means the work will be done in short sections, using a number of vehicles to manage traffic and protect the workers on the ground. Once one section is complete, the team will move on to the next relatively quickly.

This work will be done during daytime working hours. Traffic management will only be in place when work is being undertaken.

Motorists are asked to take extra care when travelling through the site by following the 50km/h temporary speed limit, as well as the directions of traffic management staff and signs.

Waka Kotahi thanks motorists for their patience while we undertake this important safety work.

Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey. Keep up to date with:
