NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) advises that works being undertaken on the section of State Highway 1 between Victoria Road (SH1B) and Hall Street will involve some lane closures each day between 9am and 9pm from Monday 9 February until Friday 13 February.
The work is to enable the road to be resurfaced with quieter seal to decrease road noise.
NZTA Regional Director Harry Wilson thanks motorists for their patience and says the work is unlikely to take the entire week to complete.
“Resealing the road with ‘whisper seal’ is going to make this section of the road much quieter when traffic travels over it which will be very positive for the surrounding residential area,” he says.
Roadside variable message boards will be in place to advise motorists of the upcoming works from today.
Northbound and southbound traffic will be diverted when necessary as signposted.
This work is weather dependant and in the event of adverse weather it will be completed on the next suitable day.
