SH1 closure north of Oteha Valley Road

|

The NZ Transport Agency advises motorists that the northbound lanes on State Highway 1 [SH1] between Oteha Valley Road and Silverdale will be closed on the night of Sunday 9 May, to complete line marking after recent re-surfacing work.

To keep disruption to travellers and essential services to a minimum, the work will be done between midnight and 6am when traffic volumes were lighter, says the NZTA’s State Highways manager for Auckland, Tommy Parker.

“We regret any inconvenience to motorists, but resurfacing and line marking is an important part of our maintenance programme to ensure the busy motorway is kept in a good and safe condition for everyone using it,” Mr Parker added.

Northbound motorists have the option of using detour routes via SH17 or East Coast Bays Road which should add only 5 minutes extra to their journey.

The NZTA also reminds motorists heading north that the BP Service Centre at dairy Flat will be closed while the improvements are made, and that they should ensure that they have enough fuel to get to the next available service stations in Warkworth or Wellsford.

All work is weather dependant. If it can not be carried out on the date specified above, it will be carried out on the next available evening.

The southbound lanes of SH1 are not affected by the improvements.
