Roundabout repairs planned for Masterton

|

Drivers are asked to be ready for roundabout road repairs planned for State Highway 2 in Masterton.

Work will be carried out later this month to repair the road surface on the roundabout at the intersection of State Highway 2 and Queen and Dixon Streets.

Because the resurfacing work requires excavation, part of the roundabout and intersection must be closed to traffic.

The repairs have been timed to be done at night to ensure disruption for drivers and businesses is minimised as much as possible.

However, some impact is unavoidable, and drivers will face short delays and a northbound detour until the repairs are completed. Road users are encouraged to allow extra time for their journeys.

Road crews will work hard to finish the job as quickly as possible. They’ll also take steps to keep roadwork noise down for nearby residents.

While the repairs are underway, detours will be in place on adjacent roads for light vehicles. Heavy vehicles should use the Ngaumutawa Road bypass.

Works schedule and detour route

  • Sunday, 25 August to Tuesday, 27 August. 8 pm to 5:30 am (weather permitting).
  • Asphalt resurfacing – SH2 roundabout at Queen Street and Dixon Street.
  • A temporary speed limit of 30 km/h will apply at the work site.
  • Northbound traffic must detour via Church Street, Colombo Road, and Te Ore Ore Road. The roundabout will remain open to southbound traffic at all times. This detour will add 5 to 7 minutes to travel times.
  • All heavy haulage vehicles should use the Ngaumutawa Road bypass. This will add 11 minutes to travel times.
