Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises motorists to expect delays around Rotorua between Sunday 8 March and Friday 3 of April during upcoming road resurfacing works on the state highway network.
Work will be undertaken at night to reduce the impact on motorists and will require traffic management during the day, that will include speed reductions and in some cases, Stop/Go traffic control.
Due to site constraints, we will need to close the road for short durations, while heavy machinery is moved within the worksite and the road sealing takes place. Works are weather dependent, and may be rescheduled at short notice.
Detours will be sign posted if available and more information about specific works will be provided ahead of them getting underway. Motorists are encouraged to visit the Transport Agency’s interactive Journey Planner website (www.journeys.nzta.govt.nz(external link)) for up to date information about traffic, road works, delays and detours.
This work is part of the Transport Agency’s largest maintenance programme for the last decade.
The Transport Agency thanks motorists for their patience.
Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey this summer. Keep up to date with:
