The NZ Transport Agency is starting road works on State Highway 6, Gladstone Road, Richmond, between Oxford Street and McGlashen Avenue. The works are required to resurface the road, and will include upgrading a water main.
From Monday 9 May for approximately four weeks contractors will be working on the road overnight from 7pm – 6am. Given the nature of the work the contractors will not be on site if bad weather strikes.
'Gladstone Road is a busy road. Night works were chosen to best balance the need to minimise noise and disruption for residents and businesses with the potential inconvenience for the drivers who use this road each day,' Mark Owen, Regional Performance Manager, NZ Transport Agency says.
'While these night works are happening, we will do our best to do keep any disruption, including noise, to a minimum. We appreciate the patience of those who live, work and travel along this road. Once the work is completed, the road will be smoother.'
When the road crew is on site, there will be a temporary speed limit in place. This means from 7pm to 6am the temporary speed limit will be 30 km/h. Outside of these hours, the usual posted speed limit of 50 km/h will apply.
'We ask road users to cooperate and stick to the temporary speed limit - it’s there to keep both road users and our road crews safe,' Mr Owen says.
Before each stage of the work Transport Agency representatives will be in direct contact with affected residents and businesses to answer any of their questions, including whether access to individual properties will be impacted during the works.
