State Highway 16 from Helensville to Wellsford is about to benefit from the warmer spring temperatures and lower rainfall.
The onset of better weather conditions means the NZ Transport Agency is able to get on with its summer highway sealing programme to help keep the highway safe and resilient.
Transport Agency contractors will begin repairs to the road seal over the next two weeks, starting from October 15.
“This is an important part of maintaining the reliability and safety of this highway for all road users” says the Agency’s Auckland and Northland Highways Manager, Brett Gliddon.
“The repair work involves removing the existing surface and mixing in a stabilising agent. The surface is then compacted, shaped and resealed.”
The maintenance work will involve some single lane closures.
Some repairs will be carried out at night to minimise disruption to traffic. The Transport Agency has been in touch with those residents who may be affected and apologises in advance for any inconvenience while we carry out this important maintenance work.
