The NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists that tomorrow it will begin sealing the new sections of road on the State Highway 2 Rimutaka Hill Road as part of the Muldoon's Corner realignment safety improvements.
NZTA Wellington State Highways Manager Rod James says contractors are making solid progress on the $16m safety project, and crews will begin applying chip seal to the top sections of the project from tomorrow, weather permitting. The first coat of seal will be followed by the second and final coat, consisting of asphalt, early next year.
Mr James is advising road users to be aware of the road condition during this stage of construction and to keep to the revised speed limits and watch for loose chip. Mr James says the NZTA is grateful to motorists for their ongoing patience during the construction of this important safety upgrade.
