The NZ Transport Agency says road resurfacing work will start Tuesday (18 March 2014) and continue for approximately a week through the Athenree Gorge between Old Tauranga Road and Athenree Road on State Highway 2.
Some delays expected as traffic will be managed through a manual stop/go operation during the day. Speed restrictions will be in place both day and night says the Transport Agency.
Motorists are advised to keep to the posted temporary speed limits.
The works will commence from 6.00am and go through to 6.00pm daily. Provided weather conditions are favourable.
The work, part of the Transport Agency ongoing maintenance activity is being done to restore the water-proofing and skid resistance on the road to ensure safer journeys.
The Transport Agency would like to apologise to motorists for any inconvenience and thanks them for their patience while this important work is being undertaken.
