The NZ Transport Agency says speed restrictions and traffic management will be in place on roads around the Bay of Plenty this week, as annual road maintenance and rock fall prevention work continues.
People travelling around the region are advised to expect short delays and allow extra time to get to their destination.
Sites where delays of between five and 20 minutes are possible are detailed below to allow drivers to plan ahead.
Stop/go traffic management and 30km/h speed restrictions will be in place each weekday for the next five weeks while contractors carry out rock fall prevention work.
The first two weeks will be at Motu Bluffs (approximately 40km east of Opotiki) and then the following three weeks will be at Maraenui Hill (approximately 30km east of Opotiki).
The work will require the highway to be CLOSED intermittently for 10 minute periods to allow rocks from the bluffs above to be cleared.
Motorists are advised to allow an extra 10 to 15 minutes travel time.
From the afternoon of Friday 6 November through to Saturday 7 November repairs will be carried out at the following sites:

Work will continue on the new site entrance for construction traffic from Turret Road above the Hairini Street connection. New temporary line markings and safe hit posts will also be in place.
Temporary traffic management will be used throughout the week and motorists are advised to drive with care through the site.
Speed restrictions and lane closures will be in place on several sites along this route this month as workers install fibre optic cables.
Drivers should allow an extra 10 minutes travel time. This work is expected to continue through to late December.
