UPDATE 28 August:
Forecast bad weather means these works will no longer proceed as planned tomorrow night (Thursday, 29 August).
Resurfacing work requires dry weather for pavement repairs to be durable and effective. The repairs will be rescheduled for a later date. When a specific time has been decided on, updates will be provided.
27 August:
Keeping State Highway 2 in Upper Hutt in good condition for drivers will see a night closure for pavement repairs later this week.
This section of State Highway 2 is used by over 19 thousand vehicles daily. To prevent potholes from appearing in wet weather, urgent repairs will be carried out this Thursday night (29 September).
The work will be done under a full closure on Thursday night (29 August) between 9 pm and 4:30 am.
Local road detours will be available but will add around 5 minutes to travel times. Drivers must factor this into their travel plans.
Road crews will also take advantage of the closure to fix median barrier damage in the area at the same time.
