The NZ Transport Agency says road pavement rehabilitation work will start next Monday (3 March 2014) and continue for a couple of weeks at Athenree Gorge on State Highway 2, just north of where the Transport Agency is realigning a series of bends known as the Arden Cottage curves.
There are minimal delays expected, but traffic will be managed through a manual stop/go operation during the day. Speed restrictions will be in place both day and night says the Transport Agency.
Motorists are advised to keep to the posted temporary speed limits.
The works will commence from 6.00am and go through to 6.00pm daily. Provided weather conditions are favourable the road pavement rehabilitation work is expected to be completed by Friday 14 March.
The work, part of the Transport Agency ongoing maintenance activity is being done to ensure the road pavement at this location is kept strong enough to carry heavy traffic over the next 10-20 years.
The Transport Agency would like to apologise to motorists for any inconvenience and thanks them for their patience while this important work is being undertaken.
