State Highway 1B at Tamahere in the Waikato is CLOSED following a serious crash near Marychurch Road.
The NZ Transport Agency advises motorists to avoid travelling in area.
Emergency services and contractors are at the scene and a detour via Bellevue Road and Victoria Road is in place however delays are likely.
The closure is expected to remain in place until after 2pm today.
