The NZ Transport Agency is advising that, due to a serious crash, State Highway 1 south of Waiōuru is closed.
The road is expected to be closed for at least two to three more hours.
Motorists are advised to delay travel if possible, however there is a detour via State Highway 4 between Whanganui and Raetihi.
Please note that, due to roadworks, State Highway 4 is under stop/go control and motorists should expect delays.
