The NZ Transport Agency is advising that State Highway 1 Foxton will be closed between Victoria Street and Avenue Road on Thursday 17 January from 4am to 7am.
The closure is needed to allow the transportation of an oversize boat hull between Palmerston North and Foxton.
Signs will be in place to direct traffic along the detour route which will be via Victoria Street, through to Park Street and Avenue Road.
Road users are advised to plan their journeys ahead of time.
