The Ngaruawahia section of the Waikato Expressway will be closed for four nights this month, to allow contractors to carry out final planned works on the Waikato River Bridge.
The stretch of State Highway 1 (SH1) between Taupiri roundabout and Horotiu roundabout, including the on-ramps, will be closed:
The road will re-open outside these hours.
NZ Transport Agency Waikato highway manager, Kaye Clark, said all traffic will be detoured along Great South Road, via the old SH1 through Ngaruawahia during the closure.
There will be signage in place at both the northern and southern ends of the closure to guide motorists. Short delays are expected due to the extended route.
In the event of adverse weather conditions, the closure will be postponed to the next suitable day.
The Transport Agency apologises in advance for any inconvenience and thanks motorists for their patience and understanding while the important construction works are complete.
