The NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists that due to a fatal crash in the early hours on Sunday morning, State Highway 6 between Hira and the Wairau River Bridge, near Canvastown, Marlborough, is closed.
Emergency services are on the scene, and have advised that at this stage, the road is likely to remain closed until midday on Sunday.
A detour route is available via State Highway 63. This will add around 1 hour 20 minutes to travel time.
