Resurfacing of SH6A Frankton Rd and Stanley St Queenstown

|

The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) is advising motorists of further resurfacing and safety works scheduled to commence on SH6A Frankton Road and Stanley Street in Queenstown from next Tuesday (17 January).

NZTA Area Manager John Jarvis says ‘milling out’ and removal of the existing surface will be followed by pavement repairs and new asphalting on the 750m section of urban highway between the Suburb Street intersection through to the Ballarat Street roundabout at the bottom of the Stanley Street hill.

Mr Jarvis said the NZTA would also be taking the opportunity to incorporate new road safety improvements, with a new pedestrian crossing point across Stanley Street at the top of the hill in the block before Sydney Street, along with modifications to the slow vehicle passing lane up the hill, and new safe turning bays for Sydney Street.

Mr Jarvis said while every effort is being made by NZTA contractor Fulton Hogan to minimise disruption, some minor detours will be necessary to keep traffic flowing as much as possible.

The work is expected to take until mid March to complete, and will cause some short delays for road users. Motorists are advised to allow an extra few minutes for their trip, particularly during peak travel times. The NZTA regrets any inconvenience to road users and businesses in the area, and appreciates their patience while this essential work is carried out.
