Road reconstruction work, being carried out by the highway’s construction subcontractor, CPBHEB JV, will see a short section of State Highway 58 at Pāuatahanui closed this weekend, starting Friday 30 June.
The works are part of the Te Aranui o Te Rangihaeata –Transmission Gully motorway project.
A full closure is scheduled for State Highway 58, between Transmission Gully and the Pāuatahanui roundabout from 9pm Friday, 30 June through to 5am Monday, 3 July.
Contractors will reconstruct the road and prepare it for a final surfacing. The works involve excavating up to 400mm of the road surface and then laying two layers of asphalt. As there will be a considerable amount of heavy equipment on site, full closure is necessary for the safety of the public and road crews. It will also ensure this work can be done as quickly as possible.
Final surfacing and line marking is scheduled to be completed from Tuesday, 4 July, weather permitting.
The work has been timed to minimise disruption as much as possible and detour routes are available. Heavy vehicles should use state highways. Drivers can expect short delays when travelling through the area and should factor this into their travel plans.
Please detour via Waitangirua interchange, Te Ara Kapehu, Navigation Drive and Joseph Banks Drive, or use alternative routes.
