Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is today sharing revised plans for safety improvements at four key intersections on State Highway 1 near Waipū.
The plans reflect feedback provided through the engagement phase on an initial set of designs, with input received from iwi and hapū partners, key stakeholders and the wider community late last year.
The redesigned proposals include changes at the following intersections along a 7.5km stretch of State Highway 1:
Waka Kotahi Regional Manager Infrastructure Delivery Northland and Auckland Stephen Collett says community engagement will continue over the coming months as the project develops.
“Waka Kotahi values the local knowledge which was shared during the engagement process, and people in the community can look forward to seeing their feedback reflected in the updated designs.
“This package of safety improvements forms part of Road to Zero, Aotearoa New Zealand’s road safety strategy. It represents a critical step in reducing deaths and serious injuries on this stretch of road, and making journeys safer for everyone using this part of State Highway One.”
