Put me on a highway, and show me a sign (to the Eagles Concert)

|

There will be plenty of people taking it to the limit this weekend between Christchurch and Dunedin, and on other Otago and Southland highways, to have one of those nights at the Eagles concert in Dunedin Saturday.

“On our dark desert highways, there will be increased traffic so to avoid any heartache tonight,  or any night, allow plenty of time and drive safely,” says Peter Brown, NZ Transport Agency Journey Manager for the lower South Island.

As well as the concert, there are two other significant events in South Canterbury which will mean extra traffic in the area.

The March Hare Rally in Waimate attracts about 2,000 motorbike enthusiasts and the Temuka & Geraldine A & P show in Winchester will also mean there are delays for drivers on Saturday. “There will be some roadworks being undertaken just south of Rangitata, however other roadworks will be taking it easy over the weekend.”

After the thrill (of the concert) is gone, and you have that peaceful easy feeling as you head home on the long run, make sure you plan some stops along the way and seat belts are buckled up after each stop.

Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey this summer. Keep up to date with:
