The NZ Transport Agency will be holding public information sessions for Te Ahu a Turanga: Manawatū Tararua Highway project later this month.
Project Manager Lonnie Dalzell says we are continuing to work toward a safe, resilient and efficient alternative for State Highway 3 through the Manawatū Gorge, after the road closed indefinitely in 2017.
The information sessions will allow the community to have an opportunity to hear updates on the project in Palmerston North, Dannevirke, Woodville, Feilding, Pahīatua and Ashhurst.
“We will be presenting a new animated video flyover, new maps and will provide information on the Notice of Requirement (NoR) which was lodged today with local councils,” says Mr Dalzell.
The NoR is a critical step to obtain statutory Resource Management Act approvals to authorise the proposed new road across the Ruahine Ranges.
“We encourage the community to attend as it is will give people a chance to ask any questions about what is being proposed as part of the designation for the new road.”
“It will also be a good opportunity to explain the consenting processes we are currently working through, where to from here, and how people can be involved,” says Mr Dalzell.
The public information sessions will be from 4pm to 7.30pm on:
