Road crews will be hard at work on State Highway 58 Paremata Road at the end of the month, cleaning drains and clearing and preventing slips.
Night closures are planned from Sunday, 26 May to Thursday, 30 May.
Three separate sites will be worked on during the week - Postgate Drive to James Cook Drive, James Cook Drive to Joseph Banks Drive, and Postgate Drive to Paremata Crescent. The highway will be closed between 9 pm and 4 am while work is underway. Local road detours will be available.
This is essential maintenance work. Ensuring drains are clear and slips/rockfall areas are managed is critical as we move into winter. Doing this work before wet weather arrives helps reduce the risk of surface flooding, rockfalls and slips over the winter months.
NZTA/Waka Kotahi and the Wellington Transport Alliance understand full closures can be disruptive and that detours do add to travel times.
However, State Highway 58 between Pāuatahanui and Paremata is a critical transport link that carries, on average, over 16,000 vehicles daily. Regular maintenance is essential to ensure it remains resilient and accessible to road users and residents.
We strongly urge all road users and residents to plan ahead for these works. Please allow extra time for your journeys while the closures and detours are in place. Your cooperation and understanding will help us complete the maintenance work efficiently and safely.
