Plan ahead to avoid delays

The NZ Transport Agency is encouraging Wellington commuters to plan their journeys, be patient and allow extra travel time during tomorrow’s 24 hour rail strike.

“Many people who usually use train services may use their cars instead and that’s going to put increased pressure on the roads in and out of Wellington,” Senior Journeys Manager Neil Walker says.

“We encourage commuters to go online and take advantage of the NZTA’s real-time travel information and traffic updates when planning their journey.”

The rail strike will begin at 2am on Thursday the 16th of November through to 2am Friday the following day, before normal services resume.

“During this time we will be making additional resources available for our traffic management teams and services,” Mr Walker says.

“We will also be taking steps to minimise any impacts that our current roadworks projects could have on traffic flows in the Wellington region.”
