Motorists are being reminded to plan ahead this anniversary weekend as the Waikato and Bay of Plenty Regions are hosting a large number of planned public events.
Bay of Plenty Systems Manager Rob Campbell says there will be a lot of people travelling on our roads this weekend, whether it be travelling to the beach to make the most of the long weekend, or to the many events that are taking place over the long weekend.
“With events on such as the two international one day cricket matches in Tauranga, the Hamilton Sevens, and the Cambridge Town Cup Rowing Regatta we are expecting the roads to be busy all weekend, and not just at traditional peak travelling times.
“We recommend people take note of these events when planning their trips, and to expect more people on both local roads and our State Highways, says Mr Campbell.
“Those travelling should allow plenty of time for their journeys, drive to the conditions and plan ahead.
We also encourage people to check the travel section of our website or our social media pages so they can know the current road conditions before they leave for an event or away for the weekend,” says Mr Campbell.
