The NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists to allow more time for their journey tonight due to lane closures on State Highway 1 on the Brynderwyn Hills in Northland.
Weather permitting contractors will carry out maintenance work on the south side of the Brynderwyn Hills overnight between 7pm Tuesday 26 April and 6am on Wednesday morning.
A single lane will be closed during this time to allow the work to be carried out safely and the route to remain open to traffic.
The overnight lane closure is timed to take place when traffic flows are lighter to minimise any disruption to customers.
Motorists are urged to slow down and take care through the area.
The work involves improving sections of the road surface, cleaning road edge markers to improve visibility, repairing broken or damaged signs, and clearing water channels and culverts to reduce water build up.
