Plan ahead for delays on SH1 and SH59

|

People travelling southbound on State Highway 1 and State Highway 59 between Linden and Tawa from 10.00pm to 11.00pm on Monday night (2 May) should consider an alternate route, to avoid being delayed due to gantry installation.

Crews will be holding southbound traffic on SH1 and SH59 between 10.00pm and 11.00pm to safely install an overhead gantry. A lane closure will also be in place from 7pm to 5am on Monday 2 May so the crew can safely install the gantry.

Drivers can expect delays and should avoid travelling through this area or consider an alternative route.

The steel overhead gantries weigh approximately two tonnes once fitted and will hold variable (electronic) message speed signs to keep motorists informed of the latest road conditions and ensure they are travelling at a safe speed.

The work is part of an ongoing programme of improvements Waka Kotahi is undertaking to help people safely and easily navigate the state highway network, and keep them informed about any incidents, closures or delays.

The work is dependent on weather and may be postponed at short notice. Updates will be posted on the Waka Kotahi Facebook and Twitter accounts. We thank people for their ongoing patience.
