NZ Transport Agency contractors will be busy carrying out a number of repairs over the next 3 weeks to prepare SH14 for winter weather and motorists are asked to take care around the work sites.
Work on the highway, between Whangarei and Dargaville, includes repairing potholes and drainage culverts.
Drainage improvement works are also being carried out at Snooks Road near Whangarei to improve water runoff and therefore the safety of the road surface.
The NZ Transport Agency’s Northland Journey Manager, Jacqui Hori-Hoult says the nature and large number of repairs means the work and its timing will be quite unpredictable. Weather conditions will also play a part in completing the work.
“We want to finish all the repairs before winter sets in and we’re working hard to coordinate the work and minimise the delays to those using this highway.”
The NZ Transport Agency apologises in advance for any inconvenience and thanks motorists for their patience whilst we carry out this work over winter.
Please drive to the conditions and keep to the speed limit throughout this construction site so we can keep our workers and all road users safe.
