Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises overnight repair works to the road in and immediately south of the Awakino Tunnel will take place this Sunday.
Between 8pm and 3am, the road will need to be closed for short periods of time (less than five minutes), with three longer closures of approximately 25 minutes at a time.
These works have been programmed to take place overnight when traffic volumes are typically lower, to minimise disruption to motorists.
However, motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and allow additional time for their journeys while these works are underway.
Work is weather dependent and may need to be postponed.
