Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises motorists that State Highway 25 between Tairua and Whenuakite will be closed overnight on Wednesday 13, Thursday 14, Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 November for road resurfacing.
The road will be closed between Ocean Beach Rd on the Tairua side and Boat Harbour Rd on the Whenuakite side.
Acting Waikato System Manager Rob Campbell says there will also be Stop / Go traffic management in place on the night of Tuesday 12 November, but the road will be open.
“The overnight closures of the road will take place between 8.00pm and 5.00am, with a detour in place between Tairua and Whenuakite via SH25, SH25A, SH26 (temporary roundabout to SH25), and SH25. Those travelling between Whenuakite and Tairua should take the same route, in the opposite direction.”
“As the detour will add a considerable amount of time to through journeys on the eastern side of the Coromandel Peninsula, people are encouraged to plan their travel for outside the closure hours, where possible.”
Mr Campbell encouraged motorists travelling through the area during the day to drive with care to the posted temporary speed limit to protect both their vehicles and the road surface.
“We regret the inconvenience caused by these works and thank motorists for their patience. Road closures help us to ensure the safety of our workers and the travelling public.”
