The NZ Transport Agency is urging motorists to exercise extreme care on the roads in the Manawatu region following extensive flooding today.
NZTA acting state highways manager David McGonigal says highways throughout the region have been hit by slips and extensive surface flooding, causing road closures and potentially treacherous driving conditions.
"We’ve got emergency crews working across the network cleaning up slips and managing traffic, but in the meantime we advise motorists to exercise the greatest of care when driving and to avoid unnecessary travel where possible"
