The NZ Transport Agency is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Town as its new Regional Director Auckland/Northland.
Mr Town is currently the Chief Executive for Tauranga City Council, a role he has led for eight years. Prior to this he was the Chief Executive for Franklin District Council.
NZTA Chief Executive Geoff Dangerfield says he is delighted that Mr Town had accepted the role, in which he will provide leadership for the NZTA in the Auckland/Northland region and be the key point of contact for the NZTA’s partners.
Mr Town will start in the role on 11 October, prior to the retirement of Regional Director Wayne McDonald at the end of this year.
“We’re thrilled to have Mr Town on board to help lead us through an exciting period of change and growth for the Auckland region,” said Mr Dangerfield.
“Mr Town comes to us with an outstanding track record in transport and local government. and he will bring considerable leadership and an excellent understanding of working together with our partners to make great gains for the region.
“He also has a particular interest in the development of the Super City which will be important in his new role in Auckland.”
