NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) is advising drivers to have safer journeys if travelling to this year's Fieldays at Mystery Creek which starts tomorrow (12 June) and goes through to Friday (15 June).
The agency’s Waikato state highways manager, Kaye Clark says the Fieldays is traditionally a busy time traffic-wise, with people flying or driving into the region from all over the country and overseas.
“We always experience a significant increase in traffic volumes on State highway 1 and State highway 3 during Fieldays week as people head into Mystery Creek off Airport Road,” she says.
“Police have excellent traffic management systems in place to manage the large numbers, but we’d like to remind people to be aware of the busy roads particularly the roads close to the Fieldays site during this period.”
“Please take care, be patient, plan your journey take time to check the road conditions on our website before you set off, allow extra time to get there, watch your speeds and always drive to the conditions.”
She says visitor’s can visit the NZTA’s website to check road conditions. This website is regularly updated with information about closures and detours at www.nzta.govt.nz/traffic(external link).
