The NZ Transport Agency advises motorists of planned resurfacing of State Highway 1 in Otaika south of Whangarei, starting next week.
The work will be carried out at night from 7pm to 5am when it will cause least disruption to traffic flows, says the Transport Agency’s Northern System Manager Jacqui Hori-Hoult.
The work is scheduled for Tuesday 12 March, Wednesday 13 March and Thursday 14 March.
It will continue on Sunday 17 March, Monday 18 March and Tuesday 19 March.
“As with all road works, the dates are weather dependant as effective sealing requires dry conditions.”
“The new seal will be across the full width of the state highway and traffic will be down to one lane with stop/go manual traffic control and temporary speed limits in place.”
“Motorists driving through Otaika are asked to slow down to the temporary speed limit to ensure the safety of road crews and allow the new seal to settle.”
The Transport Agency advises motorists to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journey on these nights.
“We thank motorists and local residents for their patience and understanding while this essential maintenance is carried out.”
Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey this summer. Keep up to date with:
